Recognizing the successful conduct of the 28 Eye Camps in equal number of villages under the State Level NetraDeep Campaign, current Dean, Goa Medical College, Dr Pradeep G. NaikIMA Goa State Coordinator for NetraDeep Campaign (2014), & Senior IMA Tiswadi Member was bestowed the prestigious National Level IMA Outstanding Community Service Award by the National IMA Awards Committee. As a State Coordinator Dr Pradeep meticulously planned the 28 Eye Camps under the NetraDeep program, under Aao Gaon Chalen, by selecting those 28 villages that were yet unreached under the National Blindness Control Program. He was assisted by a Team of his experienced colleagues Dr Shashikant & Dr Kadambari Kulkarni, Dr Chandrakant Shetye, Dr Dipti (Sawaiker) Shrivastav, Dr Shweta Khandeparkar and ably supported by the Senior & Junior Residents from Department of Ophthalmology, alongwith expert Optometrists & Mobile Eye Care Unit of Mukta Opticians and the IMA Student Wing volunteers, besides valuable support by each of the 7 Local IMA Branches & Panchayats / NGOs. Over 5,500 patients were screened through the dedicated efforts of the entire NetraDeep Team and 4,500 were provided free spectacles and/or ophthalmic medicines sponsored by CIPLA & Proprietor of Mukta Opticians Shri Kishor Sarsolkar. Nearly 359 patients were later investigated, transported & operated for Cataracts (with IOLs), pterygium & other occular disorders at Goa Medical College. The noble work done by the NetraDeep Team to restore sight of thousands of underprivileged in rural villages under the Leadership of Dr Pradeep Naik was befittingly adjudged by the IMA Awards Committee for the Outstanding Community Service Award at National level. He received the Award at the National IMA Conference held recently in Ahmedabad, Gujarat from the National IMA President Dr Jitendra Patel & HSG Dr Narendra Saini.

During the Same Conference the Best Adjudged State IMA President in all States/Territories Award was presented to Dr. Jagadish A. Cacodcar, Assoc. Professor Dept of PSM, Academic I/C for his outstanding service & Leadership as State IMA President in Goa. Dr Cacodcar conducted numerous State Level CMEs, Health Education & Career Guidance Programs, besides several Community Service activities. During 2014 he was instrumental in colloborating with a number of International & National Medical Organizations like BMJ, GAPIO, SRS Global, University of South Florida, University of Tennesse and invited a number of International & National Level Speakers to educate IMA Members in Goa. Serving in various capacities as an IMA Member at IMA CQS & IMA Goa State Level since the last 19 years, Dr Jagadish has previously been Awarded Best State IMA Secretary at National Level (2007), Best Local IMA Branch President (2011) & Best Local IMA Branch Secretary (1999). He was the Editor IMA News in 1999. During the year 2014, Dr Cacodcar was also the recipient of the GAPIO Service Excellence Award at Kolkata & Dr. S. Radhakrishnan National Medical Teacher Award at New Delhi.
